About The Theology Gateway

Vision

The Theology Gateway aspires to serve as a comprehensive portal for online resources dedicated to theological research. Our primary objective is to index resources pertaining to Christian theology, with a particular emphasis on books.

Although numerous theological websites exist, few offer a structured means of locating resources essential for study and research—a gap that the Theology Gateway aims to fill.

Mission

The Theology Gateway contains links to:

  • Books available for free use (online or downloadable)
  • Copyrighted books accessible online for reading, either in full or in part
  • Books available for purchase from major retailers such as Amazon or Christian Books
  • Websites devoted to specific subfields within Christian theology

We organize materials according to the traditional structure of Christian theology:

  • Biblical studies and theology: surveys, introductions, exegesis, theology, and hermeneutics of the Old and New Testaments
  • Systematic Theology: from various confessional perspectives and historically significant eras
  • Historical Studies and Theology: the history of Christian doctrine and the history of the Church
  • Practical Theology: addressing the individual, the church, and society in areas such as Christian living, homiletics, evangelism, church planting and growth, pastoral theology, and related fields
  • Interdisciplinary Theology: the intersection of theology with other disciplines, including cosmology, physics, history, economics, sociology, psychology, and others

In the future, we intend to develop a section on Comparative Theology, wherein Christianity will be examined in relation to other world religions, as well as to add a Prolegomena (Introduction) to Christian theology.

Orientation

Students

The site is primarily oriented toward undergraduate and master's‑level students, though doctoral researchers will also find abundant material. The presentation style is designed to be accessible to all, and accordingly, we include sections with links to audio resources.

Theologians

Professional theologians in the academic community will discover numerous links to scholars from other traditions and divergent viewpoints, thereby broadening their own perspectives. Additionally, users may encounter resources previously unknown to them.

Pastors, Teachers and Church Ministry

The Theology Gateway is not intended as a site for mere Bible study, as many such sites already exist and excel in that domain. Rather, we are particularly devoted to the academic study of theology.

Nevertheless, educated individuals serving in the church, as well as those pursuing formal or self‑directed education, will find the Theology Gateway a valuable starting point for deepening their knowledge of the Bible, biblical exegesis, and Christian doctrine.

Those tasked with preparing sermons or lessons for the church will discover practical resources and thereby grow in both knowledge and commitment to the work that God has entrusted to them.

Language

The site employs English as its primary language, as the majority of theological students utilize it. However, for works lacking English translations, we occasionally link to materials in German, French, Latin, and other languages commonly used by theologians. Once the Theology Gateway achieves higher visibility in search engines, we will consider providing a Russian translation and incorporating numerous links in Russian.

Let glory be to God, the one and only Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—forever and ever!
